SPEEDFISH

 

This board is a hybrid of several board styles and sizes that I’ve seen on my travels and combines the best effects of all of them.

 

Made from 6mm or 10mm high pressure steam compressed Scandinavian Birch Ply and measuring 32” in length X 12” wide with a 12” radial curve at the nose, steamed to form the upward scoop. The trailing edge has been cut to a 6” “fish-tail” with a lateral concave of approx ½” over the last third of the board length.

 

The upper deck (or face)has the “Speedfish” logo spray stencilled onto it centrally whilst the nose is painted Delphinium Blue using Maritime quality waterproof paint in a left-hand stylised wave. This blue section is mirrored on the lower face (or base) with the two off-set lines (the standard Grampy Teds format)which  are wood-stained onto the surface, with the Grampy Teds logo sited just rear of the curved section. Other than that, the board has been left naturally coloured so that the varnish brings out the beauty of the grain.

 

The whole board has been sealed in at least four layers of high quality Yacht varnish to ensure complete waterproofing.

 

Put all those components together and I reckon that you’ve got a pretty sleek and fast performing board.
